About Steven R. Bailey
Steve Bailey, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and Radiology, and Chief of Cardiology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. Dr. Steven R. Bailey is the Janey Briscoe Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Director of the Janey Briscoe Center of Excellence for Cardiovascular Research. He is also Professor of Radiology, Director of Interventional Cardiology, and Interim Chief, Division of Cardiology at the Health Science Center. Dr. Bailey received his M.D. from the University of Oregon Health Science Center at Portland and did his postdoctoral training at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. He holds an American Board of Internal Medicine subspecialty board certification in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association and the Society for Catheterization and Intervention (SCAI). Dr. Bailey’s translational research interests include nanosensors, nanosynthesized metals and new implantable medical devices. He holds several patents in these areas. He serves as a program co-director for the ACC 12 Summit as well as the SCAI national meeting.
