About Praveen J. Patel
Praveen Patel is a consultant ophthalmologist in the Medical Retina Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Ophthalmology Specialty Lead at the NIHR Clinical Research Network, North Thames. He undertook two fellowships after his initial medical training at Cambridge University; a clinical research fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, and a medical retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital. As one of the lead investigators of a pioneering trial involving anti-VEGF agents for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, he won the Moorfields Research Medal in 2011. Praveen has a particular research interest in optimising treatment outcomes for patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration in clinical settings and he is lead researcher for OCT in Health and Disease, an analysis of macular OCT images collected as part of the UK Biobank Resource.
