Dr. Michael Hee provides comprehensive care for numerous medical and surgical eye diseases. Dr. Hee has extensive experience with many treatment options, including small incision cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery, diabetic retinopathy treatments, macular degeneration treatments, eyelid surgery, and medical, laser, and surgical treatment for glaucoma. After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Hee received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Hee trained in ophthalmology and laser vision correction procedures at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). While earning a Ph.D. at MIT, Dr. Hee was significantly involved in the development of optical coherence tomography, or OCT, which is a new technology used to obtain high-resolution images of the retina and optic nerve. As medical director of iScience Surgical Corporation, a revolutionary, technology-driven start-up company that specializes in creating new tactics for minimally invasive, image-guided microsurgery, Dr. Hee stays on the cutting edge of ophthalmic diagnostic and therapeutic instrumentation. Dr. Hee also serves as a clinical instructor in ophthalmology at UCSF.
