    1. Differences In Macular Morphology Between Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy And Exudative Age-Related Macular Degeneration Detected By Optical Coherence Tomography.

Purpose: To evaluate the differences in the optical coherence tomographically determined macular morphology in eyes with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) from eyes with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) quantitatively. Methods: The medical records of 208 eyes of 203 Japanese patients with PCV or exudative AMD who were newly treated for choroidal neovascularization were reviewed. The six linear, low-resolution, high-speed scans of 6 mm were analyzed using a manually assisted computer algorithm, which allowed us to manually draw spline lines arbitrarily on the images so that the subretinal fluid and neurosensory retina could be segmented. The thickness of the neurosensory retina ...

    2. Retinal Structural Changes Associated With Retinal Arterial Macroaneurysm Examined With Optical Coherence Tomography.

Retinal arterial macroaneurysm can cause hemorrhagic and/or exudative complications. Eyes with minimal hemorrhage from the aneurysm often showed an extensive exudative change that extended to the fovea. In these eyes, retinal edema was seen predominantly in the outer nuclear layer, accompanying a focal serous retinal detachment beneath the fovea.Page: 782DOI: 10.1097/IAE.0b013e3181a2f26aAuthors: TSUJIKAWA, AKITAKA MD; SAKAMOTO, ATSUSHI MD; OTA, MASAFUMI MD; OH, HIDEYASU MD; MIYAMOTO, KAZUAKI MD; KITA, MIHORI MD; YOSHIMURA, NAGAHISA MD

    4. Vitreo-Papillary Adhesion In Macular Hole And Macular Pucker.

Optical coherence tomography/scanning laser ophthalmoscopy imaging of macular holes, lamellar holes, and macular puckers identified vitreo-papillary adhesion most often in macular holes and least often in macular pucker eyes. Macular hole and macular pucker eyes with intraretinal cysts had vitreo-papillary adhesion more often than lamellar hole and macular pucker eyes without cysts.Page: 644DOI: 10.1097/IAE.0b013e31819e0d92Authors: WANG, MICHELLE Y. 6. Association Of The Extent Of Diabetic Macular Edema As Assessed By Optical Coherence Tomography With Visual Acuity And Retinal Outcome Variables.

Purpose: To determine whether the extensiveness of diabetic macular edema using a 10-step scale based on optical coherence tomography explains pretreatment variation in visual acuity and predicts change in macular thickness or visual acuity after laser photocoagulation. Methods: Three hundred twenty-three eyes from a randomized clinical trial of two methods of laser photocoagulation for diabetic macular edema were studied. Baseline number of thickened optical coherence tomography subfields was used to characterize diabetic macular edema on a 10-step scale from 0 to 9. Associations were explored between baseline number of thickened subfields and baseline fundus photographic variables, visual acuity, central subfield ...

Transverse C-scan images showed an irregularity or protrusion of the highly reflective retinal ...

    22. Early Macular Morphological Changes Following Plaque Radiotherapy For Uveal Melanoma.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) evidence of radiation-induced macular edema can be found as early as 4 months following plaque radiotherapy of uveal melanoma. OCT changes are apparent before clinical signs of classical radiation maculopathy and before substantial visual deterioration occurs. The development of macular edema is significantly associated with larger initial tumor size.Page: 263DOI: 10.1097/IAE.0b013e31814b1b75Authors: HORGAN, NOEL MD; SHIELDS, CAROL L.
