    1. New Study Shows the RTVue is More Reproducible than Stratus, Cirrus, and Spectralis

New Study Shows the RTVue is More Reproducible than Stratus, Cirrus, and Spectralis
Comparison of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness in Normal Eyes Using Time-Domain and Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Fremont, California (Vocus/PRWEB) March 26, 2011 The authors of this study (Leonard K. Seibold, Naresh Mandava, and Malik Y. Kahook), compared the RNFL reproducibility of the RTVue with the Stratus, Cirrus, and Spectralis OCTs. They measured RNFL thickness in 40 normals on separate visits several weeks apart and they showed the RTVue reproducibility was better than all other OCT system in the study. The results found that only the RTVue showed significant improvement in reproducibility compared to the Stratus. The Cirrus and ...

    2. Market Scope Expects Retina Pharmaceutical Industry to Top $3.5 Billion by 2014

Advances in diagnostic equipment have laid the groundwork for better diagnosis and monitoring of retinal disease. This is most evident in the new optical coherence technology (OCT) devices that have dramatically improved image resolution and provided real-time cross-sectional images of retinal tissues. Carl Zeiss, Heidelberg, Topcon and Optovue are currently the lead competitors in the rapidly expanding OCT market. Despite tight capital budgets, Market Scope expects growing demand for retinal care and new diagnostic technologies to result in a compounded annual growth of 6.4 percent in the retinal diagnostic equipment segment over the next five years.
