    1. CORRELATION OF VISUAL ACUITY WITH FUNDUS FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY IN DIABETIC MACULAR OEDEMA

CORRELATION OF VISUAL ACUITY WITH FUNDUS FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY IN DIABETIC MACULAR OEDEMA

BACKGROUND In India, according to International Diabetes Federation, the prevalence of diabetes in 2017 is 8.8%. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by impaired metabolism of carbohydrate causing hyperglycaemia which results in multiple end organ damage like nephropathy, retinopathy and neuropathy. Increasing prevalence of this disease increases the burden of diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is an important and leading cause of visual disability. Most important and frequent cause of visual loss due to diabetic retinopathy is diabetic macular oedema. Patients with diabetic retinopathy will develop diabetic macular oedema at any stage of the disease. Patients with diabetic macular ...

    2. A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CENTRAL FOVEAL THICKNESS PRE AND POST CATARACT SURGERY USING SD-OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY

A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CENTRAL FOVEAL THICKNESS PRE AND POST CATARACT SURGERY USING SD-OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study is to compare central foveal thickness (CFT) of patients preoperatively and postoperatively cataract surgery using SD- optical coherence tomography and to correlate CFT with vision. MATERIALS AND METHODS 200 eyes of 100 patients were examined and two groups were formed. Group-A was considered as the control group in the study and eyes in group-B were operated for cataract using SICS technique. The central foveal thickness (CFT) in each group was measured using SD-OCT machine (Cirrus Zeiss) preoperatively, postoperatively on day 1, week 1 and after 1 month and the data was compiled and compared ...

    3. ROLE OF CONTRAST SENSITIVITY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT) IN EARLY DETECTION OF ETHAMBUTOL INDUCED TOXIC OPTIC NEUROPATHY A HOSPITAL BASED PROSPECTIVE STUDY

ROLE OF CONTRAST SENSITIVITY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT) IN EARLY DETECTION OF ETHAMBUTOL INDUCED TOXIC OPTIC NEUROPATHY A HOSPITAL BASED PROSPECTIVE STUDY

BACKGROUND Tuberculosis is one of the major diseases of public health importance in the world. Ethambutol hydrochloride is one of the first line drugs employed in the treatment of tuberculosis. The incidence of ethambutol induced toxic optic neuropathy is directly proportional to the dose and duration of ethambutol therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate retinal nerve fibre layer thickness (RNFL) on optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients on ethambutol therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a prospective study of 198 eyes of 100 patients being treated with ethambutol for tuberculosis at DOTS centre of Government Medical College ...

    4. A STUDY TO COMPARE FUNDUS FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY IN AGE RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION

A STUDY TO COMPARE FUNDUS FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY IN AGE RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION

PURPOSE To compare the diagnostic accuracy of optical coherence tomography with Fundus Fluorescein Angiography in diagnosing Age related macular degeneration. METHODS A total 25 patients newly diagnosed as Age related macular degeneration were included in the study. The study was done during the time period between August 2013 to November 2015 this is a prospective randomized hospital based study. RESULTS Maximum no of patients affected belonged to the age group of 50-70 years and 60% were females. The most common symptom was defective vision accounting for 92%. Hypertension and hyperlipidemia were the most common risk factors. 12% of the cases ...
