About National University of Singapore
National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore's oldest university. It is the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. National University Health System (NUHS) was incorporated in January 2008, to bring the National University Hospital (NUH), and the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry under a common governance structure and develop academic medicine in Singapore. NUH is on the campus of NUS.

Control of optical contrast using gold nanoshells for optical coherence tomography imaging of mouse xenograft tumor model in vivo
Explore Article SPIE Digital Library (Oct 26 2009) Oncology
The control of image contrast is essential toward optimizing a contrast enhancement procedure in optical coherence tomography (OCT). In this study, the in vivo control of optical contrast in a mouse tumor model with gold nanoshells as a contrast agent is examined. Gold nanoshells are administered into mice, with the injected dosage and particle surface parameters varied and its concentration in the tumor under each condition is determined using a ... Comparison of Visante and slit-lamp anterior segment optical coherence tomography in imaging the anterior chamber angle
Explore Article Nature Publishing Group (Jun 13 2009) Ophthalmology
Aims To compare the diagnostic performance of two anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) devices in assessing the anterior chamber angle (ACA). Methods Visante-OCT and slit-lamp-OCT (SL-OCT) were performed on 101 patients by a single operator. The AS-OCT images were processed by customised 'dewarping' software and assessed by two glaucoma specialists masked to clinical findings. A closed ACA was defined by the presence of contact between the iris and angle ... (Read Full Article)

Although constituting only about a quarter of all glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma causes a disproportionate amount of visual morbidity and is predicted to be responsible for almost half of bilateral blindness by 2020. Early detection and treatment of angle closure significantly improves visual prognosis. Identification of eyes at risk of angle closure currently relies on opportunistic case detection, often by gonioscopy. However, gonioscopy is a highly subjective technique and often ... Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of slitlamp optical coherence tomography (SL-OCT) and Scanning Peripheral Anterior Chamber depth analyzer (SPAC) in detecting angle closure, using gonioscopy as the reference standard. Methods A total of 153 subjects underwent gonioscopy, SL-OCT, and SPAC. The anterior chamber angle (ACA) was classified as closed on gonioscopy if the posterior trabecular meshwork could not be seen; with SL-OCT, closure was determined by contact between the iris ...
