About City University of New York

City University of New York

City University of New York is the public university system of New York City. It is the largest urban university in the United States. More than 450,000 degree-credit, adult, continuing and professional education students are enrolled at campuses located in all five New York City boroughs. CUNY is the third-largest university system, in terms of enrollment, in the United States, behind the State University of New York (SUNY) and California State University systems. CUNY and SUNY are separate and independent university systems, although both are public institutions which receive funding from New York State.  City College of New York is part of CUNY.

Fluorescein angiography and optical coherence tomography concordance for choroidal neovascularisation in multifocal choroidtis Purpose To compare the utility of fluorescein angiography (FA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) as diagnostic adjuncts in evaluating symptomatic patients with choroidal neovascularisation (CNV) due to multifocal choroiditis (MFC). Methods Patients with CNV due to MFC were retrospectively evaluated in a consecutive fashion. Fundus photography, FA, OCT and biomicroscopy were used to establish the diagnosis. Primary outcome measures included CNV classification (type 1 or occult and type 2 or ... (Read Full Article)

High-Resolution Photoacoustic Imaging of Ocular Tissues Abstract: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and ultrasound (US) are methods widely used for diagnostic imaging of the eye. These techniques detect discontinuities in optical refractive index and acoustic impedance, respectively. Because these both relate to variations in tissue density or composition, OCT and US images share a qualitatively similar appearance. In photoacoustic imaging (PAI), short light pulses are directed at tissues, pressure is generated due to a rapid energy deposition ... (Read Full Article)

The Supercontinuum Laser Source: Fundamentals with Updated References (Book) Photonics and nonlinear optics are important areas of science, engineering and technology. One of the most important ultrafast nonlinear optical processes is the supercontinuum (SC) – the production of intense white light pulses covering: uv, visible, NIR, MIR, and IR. It is produced using ultrashort laser pulses (ps/fs) to produce the ultrabroad band of frequencies. This book covers the fundamental principles and surveys research of current thinkers and experts in ... (Read Full Article)

Purpose: To develop a grading system to evaluate the scleral spur visibility and to investigate the association between this and the angle width. Methods: Sixty healthy normal subjects (33 with open angles and 27 with narrow angles on dark room gonioscopy) underwent anterior segment imaging with the Visante OCT (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA). The anterior chamber angles at 12-o' clock hour positions were imaged and analyzed. The scleral spur ... (Read Full Article)

An optical technique to improve the imaging of a target inside suspensions of scattering particles includes the illumination of the scattering particles with circularly polarized light. The backscattered light from the host medium preserves the helicity of incident light, while the backscattered light reflected from the target is predominated with light of opposite helicity. Based on the observed helicity difference in the emerging light that originated at the target and ... (Read Full Article)
