Large Field, High Resolution Full-Field Optical Coherence Tomography: A Pre-clinical Study of Human Breast Tissue and Cancer Assessment

We present a benchmark pilot study in which high-resolution Full-Field Optical Coherence Tomography (FF-OCT) was used to image human breast tissue and is evaluated to assess its ability to aid the pathologist’s management of intra-operative diagnoses. FF-OCT imaging safety was investigated and agreement between FF-OCT and routinely prepared histopathological images was evaluated. The compact setup used for this study provides 1 mm3 resolution and 200 mm imaging depth, and a 2.25 cm2 specimen is scanned in about 7 minutes. 75 breast specimens were imaged from 22 patients (21 women, 1 man) with a mean age of 58 (range ...

Feature Of The Week 10/14/12: LLTech Presents an Atlas of High Resolution Images Using Full-Field OCT

We present an atlas of images using a commercial high-resolution full-field optical coherence tomography system. The imaging scanner allows 1 µm, 3D direct imaging on fresh, fixed or frozen tissue without staining. The images have been done on the following tissues: breast, brain, skin, lung, GI, urogenital, thyroid, eye, fat cells, embryos and plants. FF-OCT systems allow in-depth digital imaging directly from gross fresh, fixed or frozen tissue. No tissue staining or modification is required. Images are provided in 2D or 3D DICOM format. The high-speed, high-resolution tissue architecture imaging target direct tissue and biopsy qualification (normal, fibrosis, collagen, suspicious ...

Full-Field Optical Coherence Tomography System For Imaging An Object

The present invention relates to a full-field optical coherence tomography system (300) for imaging an object (319), comprising a light source (301), a first interferometric device having means for splitting an input light beam and comprising at least a reflecting surface (307), a second interferometric device having means for splitting the spectrally modulated output beam and comprising at least a reflecting surface, a multichannel acquisition device (321), the system (300) being characterized in that at least one of the interferometric devices includes at least a focusing optical element arranged to focus at least one of the input beams or at ...
