      A 21-year-old healthy female presented with acute-onset vision loss in the left eye. Multimodal imaging, including fundus photography and fluorescein angiography, was unremarkable. En face optical coherence tomography (OCT) demonstrated paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) lesions in a perivenular fern-like pattern leading to the diagnosis of central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). En face OCT can be an important modality to identify the distribution of abnormalities of the middle retina such as PAMM. The distribution of PAMM lesions in the posterior pole will be a critical element in the determination of the etiologic disorder.

      Fovea plana is characterized by the anatomical absence of the foveal pit in eyes with normal visual function. The authors have analyzed three cases of idiopathic fovea plana with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). As previously reported, the authors found the absence of a foveal avascular zone in all cases with OCTA; however, a preserved fusion of both the superficial and the deep capillary plexuses was found around the foveal center. This novel observation cannot be detected with conventional dye-based angiography, in which the deep capillary plexus is not visualized.
