    1. Evaluation of Vascular Changes with Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography after Plaque Radiotherapy of Choroidal Melanoma

Evaluation of Vascular Changes with Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography after Plaque Radiotherapy of Choroidal Melanoma

Aim: The purpose of this paper was to evaluate whether optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) can be used to quantify the vascular changes in radiation maculopathy, and changes in the tumor vasculature in eyes treated with plaque radiotherapy for choroidal melanoma. Methods: In this prospective study, we evaluated 39 Caucasian patients with choroidal melanoma (39 eyes) treated with ruthenium-106 plaque radiotherapy. The patients underwent complete ophthalmic examination, bulbar echography, and OCT-A before and 1 year after treatment. Results: At baseline, the mean best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in the affected eyes was 0.35 ± 0.40 logMAR, and the mean tumor ...

    2. Evaluation of choroidal tumors with optical coherence tomography: enhanced depth imaging and OCT-angiography features

Evaluation of choroidal tumors with optical coherence tomography: enhanced depth imaging and OCT-angiography features

Aim To describe the vascular features of choroidal tumors using enhanced depth imaging (EDI), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and OCT-angiography. Methods In this prospective study, we evaluated 116 Caucasian patients with choroidal tumors (60 eyes with choroidal nevi, 40 with choroidal melanoma, 6 with choroidal hemangioma, 2 with optic disc melanocytoma, 6 with choroidal osteoma, and 2 with retinal metastases). Patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination including bulbar echography, EDI-OCT, OCT-angiography, and multicolor imaging. Sixteen patients also underwent fluorescein and indocyanine angiography. Results The left eye was more involved than the right eye. The mean tumor thickness was 1.23 ...

    3. Choroidal vessel characterization using en-face optical coherence tomography measurement

Choroidal vessel characterization using en-face optical coherence tomography measurement

The choroid plays an important role in the pathogenesis of many diseases of the back section of the eye. A comprehensive visualization and knowledge of the choroid is still lacking despite advances in imaging technologies. En-face Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) provides detailed images useful to understand choroidal vasculature. In the paper, in order to get essential information about circulation-related ocular diseases, an image processing and measurement procedure is presented, capable of providing an efficient choroidal vessel segmentation and caliber estimation starting from en-face OCT images.

    4. En Face Optical Coherence Tomography of the Posterior Pole in High Myopia.

PURPOSE: To evaluate a large series of patients affected by high myopia using multiplanar imaging provided by en face optical coherence tomography (OCT). DESIGN: Observational cross-sectional study. METHODS: En face OCT longitudinal cross-sectional B scans and coronal C scans were obtained in 200 eyes of 100 patients with myopia greater than -6 diopters and evidence of posterior staphyloma at fundus examination and at ultrasound B-scan evaluation. RESULTS: A macular hole was present in three eyes (1.5%). We detected posterior retinal detachment in 37 cases (18.5%). In 15 eyes (7.5%) detachment was associated with a macular hole. In ...

    5. Evaluation of peripapillary detachment in pathologic myopia with en face optical coherence tomography

Background A newly recognized lesion in pathologic myopia is peripapillary detachment of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and retina. Recently introduced en face optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides not only cross-sectional but also coronal scans of the retina, and allows lateral extent visualization and thickness measurement of lesions. Methods Three patients presenting bilateral peripapillary yellow-orange lobulated area in high myopia have been evaluated with fluorescein angiography (FA), indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), en face OCT (OCT/SLO; Ophthalmic Technologies Inc, Toronto, Canada), and Humphrey visual field analyzer. Results In all eyes, en face OCT has shown the presence of a peripapillary ...
