      Background The aim of this study was to investigate whether the underlying plaque type affects the neointimal coverage after drug-eluting stent implantation. Methods A total of 1793 struts in 22 zotarolimus-eluting stents were assessed using optical coherence tomography imaging within 3 months of implantation. Neointimal coverage was evaluated within 5 mm from each stent edge on cross-sectional optical coherence tomography images at every 1-mm interval.
