Microscope Integrated Optical Coherence Tomography Guided Descemet Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty in Congenital Hereditary Endothelial Dystrophy

Purpose: To describe the outcomes of descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) in congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) and to evaluate the role of microscope integrated optical coherence tomography (Mi-OCT) during the surgery. Design: Retrospective data analysis. Methods: A retrospective study from the medical records of all those patients who were diagnosed with CHED and underwent DSAEK at our centre from 2015 were evaluated. All patients underwent Mi-OCT-guided standard DSAEK procedure. Intra-operative difficulties, visual outcomes and graft survival were recorded. Results: A total of 48 eyes of 29 patients with a mean age of 9.87 ± 8.2 years and ...

    2. Role of Microscope-Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography in paediatric keratoplasty: A comparative Study

Role of Microscope-Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography in paediatric keratoplasty: A comparative Study

Purpose To evaluate role of Microscope-Integrated Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography (i-OCT) in paediatric keratoplasty. Design Combined prospective and retrospective, comparative, interventional study Setting Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, India Methods Seventy-five children aged ≤16 years planned for keratoplasty were divided into two groups and compared for intraoperative course and postoperative outcome. In Group-1 (prospective group, n=56), pre-operative anterior segment visualization was performed clinically, with ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) and i-OCT and keratoplasty was commenced under i-OCT microscope. In Group-2 (retrospective group, n=19), conventional microscope was employed during keratoplasty. Results In Group-1, i-OCT, UBM and clinical examination detected ...

    3. Spectral Domain Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography in Fungal Keratitis

Spectral Domain Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography in Fungal Keratitis

Purpose: To evaluate the use of spectral domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography (SD-ASOCT) in fungal keratitis . Methods: Fifty eyes of 50 patients with fungal keratitis were recruited. Serial ASOCT was performed on days 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 42, and 56. Corneal thickness (CT) in the infiltrate area, infiltrate thickness (IT), and infiltrate width were measured at each follow-up. The presence of any specific feature on ASOCT was evaluated. Results: Mean CT and IT at presentation were 650.5 ± 108 μm and 401.1 ± 91 μm, which reduced significantly at each follow-up [on days 7, 14, 28, and 42 ...

    4. Effect of phacoemulsification on measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer and optic nerve head parameters using spectral-domain-optical coherence tomography

Effect of phacoemulsification on measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer and optic nerve head parameters using spectral-domain-optical coherence tomography

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of phacoemulsification cataract extraction on measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer and optic nerve head parameters using spectral domain optical coherence tomography. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A prospective, hospital-based study of 100 patients of 40 years of age and above, with no other ocular morbidity except cataract and planned for phacoemulsification with IOL implantation (SN60WF) at a tertiary centre at AIIMS, New Delhi, India. All patients underwent imaging with Cirrus SD-OCT model 400 and the optic disc cube 200x200 protocol at baseline and at 1 month follow up. Paired sample ...
