      Microstructure of subretinal drusenoid deposits revealed by adaptive optics imaging

      Subretinal drusenoid deposits (SDD), a recently recognized lesion associated with progression of age-related macular degeneration, were imaged with adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AO-SLO) and optical coherence tomography (AO-OCT). AO-SLO revealed a distinct en face structure of stage 3 SDD, showing a hyporeflective annulus surrounded reflective core packed with hyperreflective dots bearing a superficial similarity to the photoreceptors in the unaffected retina. However, AO-OCT suggested that the speckled appearance over the SDD rendered by AO-SLO was the lesion material itself, rather than photoreceptors.       A dual-modal retinal imaging system with adaptive optics

      An adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AO-SLO) is adapted to provide optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging. The AO-SLO function is unchanged. The system uses the same light source, scanning optics, and adaptive optics in both imaging modes. The result is a dual-modal system that can acquire retinal images in both en face and cross-section planes at the single cell level.       Anti-Spoof Reliable Biometry of Fingerprints Using En-Face Optical Coherence Tomography
      Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a relatively new imaging technology which can produce high resolution images of three-dimensional structures. OCT has been mainly used for medical applications such as for ophthalmology and dermatology. In this study we demonstrate its capability in providing much more reliable biometry identification of fingerprints than conventional methods. We prove that OCT can serve secure control of genuine fingerprints as it can detect if extra layers are placed above the finger.     4. Multi-channel time domain spectroscopic optical coherence tomography system

      A detection method based on 7 spectral windows at the photodetection stage in an optical coherence tomography system was tested. We investigated its utility in two directions: spectroscopic optical coherence tomography and signal to noise ratio improvement. A diffraction grating was used in the photodetection unit to diffract light over a 16 photodetector array. Currently, this array has been configured to deliver 7 channels only by binning two adjacent photodetectors. The improvement of the signal to noise ratio has been investigated.
