    The advent of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), a relatively new tool to image the retinal and choroidal microvasculature with depth-resolved capability, has been met with great excitement by some ophthalmologists. This noninvasive technology is a potentially valuable instrument to differentiate flow impairment in the superficial vs deep retinal capillary plexus, and it can quantify nonperfusion in eyes with retinal vascular disease.
