    Purpose Excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) is a safe treatment for superficial corneal opacities, e.g., in corneal dystrophies or degenerations. Nevertheless, no standardized treatment protocols are available and intraoperative monitoring was not possible, so far.
