    We read with interest the Correspondence by Rahman Shah regarding our 2016 ILUMIEN III: OPTIMIZE PCI trial. 1 In nearly all previous studies of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) guided by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or optical coherence tomography (OCT), the most important predictor of follow-up events was the minimum stent area, followed by edge dissections and untreated disease. 2 , 3 Nine randomised trials 4 have compared IVUS guidance versus angiography guidance for PCI with drug-eluting stents (DES).
