Focusing on technological innovation but with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and direct patient benefit with a global impact, the centre is at the forefront of research in imaging, sensing and robotics for addressing global health challenges associated with demographic, environment, social and economic changes.
The vacancy is created by a major EPSRC grant to the Centre for developing robot-guided endobronchial OCT and fluorescence imaging to allow multi-modal visualisation of the morphological and cellular details of the distal airways. The project is being carried out by a multidisciplinary team with complementary research skills in robotics, optical imaging, and endobronchial intervention.
We are looking for outstanding applicants in any of the following areas of research:
- Biophotonics, particularly with strong hands on experience and theoretical skills in confocal endomicroscopy, OCT, and fluorescence microscopy
- Endoscopic imaging, 3D navigation and multi-scale integration
- Optical sensing and micro-electronics
Experience in system integration and practical clinical/in vivo deployment would be an advantage.
