Postdoc Research Position in Optical Coherence Tomography at the Institute FEMTO-ST, Besançon, France
The MOEMS Group ( http://projects.femto-st.fr/MOEMS-Group/home ) in FEMTO-ST Institute (CNRS unit) at the University of Bourgogne and Franche-Comté, Besançon, France, invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the area of system development and image/signal processing from optical coherence tomography (OCT). FEMTO-ST is one of three largest research institutes in France in the field of Engineering Sciences, having about 730 employees including more than 150 doctoral students. The host group, focusing on MEMS technologies and microoptics, received a funding from the European Commission to develop a microsystem for OCT, combining swept-source OCT detection and MOEMS-based array-type active Mirau micro-interferometer (STREP project called VIAMOS: http://www.viamos.eu/ ). At the term of this technological project, the demonstration of OCT imaging was made and the present goal is to adapt the developed OCT microsystem for in vivo 3D skin imaging to further address the early diagnosis of cutaneous pathologies. Thus, the main objective of the position will be to take part in the optimisation of the optical design of this optical microsystem for dermatology applications, to develop the adapted image pre-processing procedures (as image denoising, speckle reduction, implementation of phase shifting, etc.) and participate to the development of 3D image processing software reconstructing the micron-scale, cross-sectional imaging of biological microstructures in real time and three dimensions.
- PhD in optical engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics or similar with instrumental technology related orientation.
- Good knowledge in optics, preferably interferometry, OCT and speckle metrology.
- Good knowledge in image processing and programming (LabVIEW, Matlab, etc.).
- Solid background about the fringe analysis and analysis of image data.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary cooperation.
