    St. Jude Medical Reaches Primary Endpoint for OCT Trial

    A trial undertaken by medical device company St. Jude Medical Inc. has met its primary endpoint as the first multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled study comparing optical coherence tomography- (OCT), intravascular ultrasound- (IVUS) and angiography-guided outcomes for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The ILUMIEN III study demonstrated PCI guided by OCT to be superior to angiography in stent expansion and procedural success and non-inferior to IVUS-guided PCI in post-procedure minimal stent area (MSA).
