Comparison of Macular Thickness Measurements between Time Domain and Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography
Macular thickness measurements obtained from spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) were significantly greater than those obtained from time domain OCT because of the more posteriorly located retinal boundary (RPE in 3D OCT versus the inner and outer segment photoreceptor interface in Stratus OCT). Lower measurement variability was observed in spectral domain OCT. Clinicians should be aware of the measurement differences between the two instruments.
