Two postdoctoral Positions in Biomedical Optics Instrumentation and Retinal Imaging At the University of Illinois at Chicago
Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Biomedical Optics and Functional Imaging Laboratory, Department of Bioengineering, University of Illinois at Chicago.
The first position will be responsible for advanced development of biomedical optics instruments. We have been working on functional OCT, confocal and super-resolution microscopy, etc. for optical imaging of retinal morphology and physiology. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline. Experience with optical instrument construction is essential. Proficiency in Labview and Matlab programming is expected. Hand-on experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: adaptive optics, OCT, and confocal microscopy.
The second position will be responsible for experimental study of retinal structure and function. We have been using multi-modal optical instruments to investigate intrinsic optical biomarkers in the retina. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Vision Sciences, Neurobiology, or other related disciplines. Demonstrated excellence in animal handling, retinal dissection, electrophysiological recording of acute retinas is required. Hand-on experience in light microscopy is desirable.
