Arden Photonics introduces new Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Validation Phantom
Arden Photonics Press Release - Arden Photonics is pleased to introduce the new ALS - OP01 Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Validation Phantom. The APL-OP01 OCT phantom is designed to enable OCT users to qualitatively and quantitatively characterize the performance of their instruments. The phantom contains four geometrical patterns inscribed within a small silica substrate to form localized refractive index changes. So this small slide can give a comprehensive assessment of an OCT instrument including spatially varying resolution, sensitivity, distortion and scan linearity. The patterns are laser etched in silica which gives excellent stability so the validation phantom can be used to check for long term drift. It is also easy to transport or ship to different sites for use as a transfer standard for machine to machine repeatability testing.
Optical Coherence Tomography ( CT)
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive optical imaging modality that provides real-time, 3D images with micron-level resolution and millimetres of imaging depth. OCT images consist of structural information from a sample based on light backscattered from different layers of material within the sample. The non-invasive nature of OCT makes it well suited for imaging samples such as biological tissue e.g. retinal scanning but its is also used to produce high resolution 3D images of materials.
