    Late oral radiation toxicity is a common condition occurring in a considerable percentage of head and neck cancer patients after radiation therapy which reduces their quality of life. The current examination of these patients is based on a visual inspection of the surface of the oral cavity; however, it is well known that many of the complications start in the subsurface layers before any superficial manifestation.
