Tornado Spectral Systems releases OCTANE-860: A fully packaged on-chip spectrometer for OCT applications
One year after demonstrating its first prototype at Photonics West 2012, Tornado Spectral Systems is launching OCTANE-860 (OCT Advanced Nanophotonics Engine) this week. This fully packaged, turn-key solution is optimized for OCT applications and centered at a wavelength of 860 nm. OCTANE matches the typical performance specifications of ophthalmic OCT spectrometers with the added benefit of an ultra-robust, small and low-cost package.
“Over the last year, Tornado Spectral Systems’ engineers have capitalized on the flexibility, robustness and cost effectiveness of our nanophotonics platform while preserving the demanding performance requirements of OCT.” says Frederic Sweeney, Ph.D. – VP Business Development & Strategic Alliances. “OCTANE-860 fits perfectly with our OEM business model and we are excited to present this product which will, in our opinion, dramatically shape the future of OCT systems design and manufacturing.”
OCTANE-860 will be showcased at SPIE Photonics West this week, Booth # 5311. First evaluation units are ready for shipping at the present time.
