Fujimoto is selected as Elihu Thomson chair holder
James Fujimoto has been appointed as the Elihu Thomson Professor of Electrical Engineering for a five-year term from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2017.Jim Fujimoto joined the MIT faculty in 1985 as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering after completing his SB, SM and PhD at MIT. He is currently a Professor of Electrical Engineering at MIT and an Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University. As principal investigator in the Research Laboratory of Electronics, Jim, working with his group and collaborators, pioneered the development of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the early 1990s.
