Waveform Digitizer and GPU combine to provide 230 kHz A-scan signal acquisition and FFT calculation for Swept Source OCT (SS-OCT)
AlazarTech, a manufacturer of high performance, low cost PC Based Instruments, today announced the release of ATS-GPU®, a software framework that allows the use of Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) for real-time signal processing of data acquired by AlazarTech waveform digitizers.
Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT) requires acquisition of analog signals at high sample rates and with a rapidly occurring trigger. This data must subsequently go through a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) before it can be used to create an image. Historically, a computer’s host CPU has been used to calculate FFTs and is becoming a bottleneck for faster systems.
ATS-GPU® allows users to acquire data and do real-time floating point FFT with zero-padding, windowing and log scaling at rates up to 230 KHz for 2048 point FFT and 110 KHz for 4096 point FFT even under notoriously slow operating environments such as LabVIEW. These benchmarks were done on a fairly average speed computer and a low cost GPU - a faster computer and GPU can do even faster FFTs.

OEMs can integrate ATS-GPU® into their applications using the example programs provided in C/C++, LabVIEW and MATLAB.
