    Campus Description: Stony Brook University, home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore.     Required Qualifications: Associate's degree in a biological science. One year full time experience directly related to the project or program. Laboratory positions require experience in a laboratory environment and/or laboratory analysis. Experience in tissue collection and banking. Knowledge of basic office software such as Word and Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a biological science. Knowledge of IRB tracking. Excellent writing skill and able to work Independently with attention to detail.

    Brief Description of Duties: To help assist with performing basic research tasks to continue the success of our on-going research projects.

    • Recruit and consent patients for research studies.
    • Maintain logs of all patients enrolled, results obtained and procedures done.
    • Collect bodily fluids and tissue samples; cut, mount and affix tissue samples. Process and store samples using biochemical laboratory techniques. Obtain images using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
    • Assist in maintaining and tracking IRB documents to ensure that all research activities comply with the responsible conduct of research.
    • Assist in preparation of manuscripts

    Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Days and hours vary.

    Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook University's Employee Health Services (The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination), clear a background investigation, submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
