1. Correlation of Optical Coherence Tomography and Multifocal Visual-Evoked Potential After Optic Neuritis

    Purpose. Acute optic neuritis (ON) is often followed by recovery of visual function. While this recovery is mainly attributed to resolution of acute inflammation, the redistribution of ion channels along the demyelinated membrane and subsequent remyelination, part of this recovery may result from neural plasticity. In the current study we examined the interrelationship between structural (Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL) thickness) and functional (amplitude of Multifocal Visual Evoked Potentials (mfVEP)) measures of the integrity of the visual pathway in the post-acute stage of ON with an aim to determine if there was any evidence for an ongoing neural reorganization.
