    Glaucoma is a group of progressive optic neuropathies that can lead to irreversible vision loss if left untreated. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is an important imaging tool used in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. It provides thickness measurements of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), a useful index for monitoring progressive thinning that occurs from damage. However, there exists high between-subject variability in RNFL thickness in people free of eye disease.
