New Ultra-fast Digitizers gets a boost with peer-to-peer streaming

Anyone working in experimental science or with high-end sampling applications at the limits of modern ultra-fast digitizers will soon realize the performance benefits to be gained from peer-to-peer (P2P) streaming. Rather than data being arbitrated between the host and its local memory, P2P streaming side-tracks the host enabling direct data transfers between expansion cards in modern PC backplanes. In this white paper, we explore the pitfalls of PCIe data transfer – how maximum throughput is impacted by host architecture, protocol coding, and payload size.
